Stephen has been investing in offshore markets for 25 years, making him one of Australia’s most experienced international investors.
Before founding Aoris Investment Management in 2017 Stephen was Head of International Equities at Evans & Partners. He directly managed $1bn of client assets and over six and a half years generated investment returns that were in the top decile of a broad peer group of international funds. Stephen spent a decade in London, most of which was with Goldman Sachs Asset Management where he held a senior role in a small team managing a ~$5bn concentrated global equity portfolio. Stephen was at Platinum Asset Management early 1994 to late 1997 covering US equities. He began his career at Bankers Trust Australia where he was part of the domestic equities investment team. Stephen holds a Bachelor of Business from UTS, and is a CFA charterholder.
As well as investing, Stephen loves early-morning cycling and lunch-time running around Sydney’s harbour foreshore. He is an avid reader of nonfiction, though he wishes he read books as often as he bought them. Stephen loves history and travelling, with Italy a favourite destination. He has a growing collection of fossils and antiquities. He lives with his wife Kirsty and two school-age boys, Samuel and William.
James has over 25 years investing experience, primarily in the Private Equity asset class, including time at Macquarie Bank, Archer Capital and most recently as a Senior Managing Director with the Blackstone Group. He has a wide range of experience as a non-executive director helping companies grow and achieve their goals. He also has had exposure to investing in international listed equities, and met Stephen when they worked together at Platinum Asset Management in the mid 90’s. James has a Bachelor of Commerce from Melbourne University and a Masters of Business Administration (with Distinction) from Harvard Business School.
When James is not at work he enjoys various sports including skiing, tennis and ocean swimming. On the weekends in winter he will be found following his beloved AFL team – the Richmond Tigers.
Daniel has over 7 years’ experience in financial markets. Prior to co-founding Aoris with Stephen, Daniel was an Associate Advisor at Evans & Partners in Sydney. Working within a team of Private Wealth Investment Advisers, he offered clients a holistic, comprehensive service without losing the personal connection. Prior to this Daniel was a Relationship Manager at UBS Wealth Management where he developed an understanding of both domestic and international markets and specialised in managing relationships and portfolios for a number of institutional, high net wealth clients and charitable organisations.
Daniel feels incredibly fortunate to work with colleagues and clients that share a common mission, culture, and philosophy. He believes simple beats complex, and that investment decisions should be based on evidence. Daniel completed his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Western Sydney in 2010.
When outside the office, you’ll find Daniel spending time with family and friends. Daniel loves to travel, so far reaching 21 countries, his most recent trip being Iceland. Daniel enjoys working out and keeping fit through boxing and playing tennis, which he also goes to watch live wherever he can.
Clinton has over 6 years’ experience in financial markets. At Aoris he is part of the distribution team, looking to create long term relationships with investors and offer a client experience second to none.
Prior to joining Aoris, Clinton was a member of the Pinnacle Investment Management distribution team, starting off in a marketing role before building out their phones based sales team and finally as a Business Development Manager. During his role as a Business Development Manager, Clinton was responsible for building relationships with investors in SA, ACT, WA and NSW. Prior to Pinnacle, Clinton worked for a start-up hedge fund and financial services conference organiser. Clinton holds a Bachelor of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
When outside the office, you’ll find Clinton spending time with friends and family, on the golf course or supporting his beloved Fremantle Dockers.
Swati has eight years of experience in capital markets analysing equities and fixed income securities, during which time she has worked in North America, Australia, and Asia. Prior to joining Aoris Investment Management in 2018 Swati was an equities analyst at CLSA in Sydney covering financials, healthcare and technology stocks. Prior to that she worked at Ocwen Asset Management in Bangalore, India and Towers Willis Watson in Dallas, United States. Swati has a Bachelor of Commerce (with a major in actuarial science) from UNSW in Australia, and MBA from Indian School of Business in India.
Outside of work, Swati loves to read, travel, and be in nature. She endeavours to keep travelling and getting to experience new places, culture, and cuisine as often as she can. So far, her favourite parts of the world are those rich in natural elements like Lamington national park in Queensland, Dolomites in Italy, and Grindelwald in Switzerland.
Ty has two years of experience in financial markets analysing fund managers across a range of asset classes. Prior to joining Aoris Investment Management in 2018 Ty was a Research Associate at BT Financial Group in Sydney where he acted as an in-house asset consultant for the wider business. Ty has a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Business Economics and Applied Finance) from the University of New England, and also completed an exchange program to the U.S. where he studied at Purdue University, Indiana. He is a CFA level 2 candidate.
Outside of work, Ty enjoys keeping fit and spending time with family and friends. He grew up in country NSW and returns home to New England region whenever he can. Ty is a Rugby League tragic, regularly attending live games to support the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Nick’s previous experience has been working as a dealers assistant for a senior stockbroker at Bell Potter Securities. During this time he was the main point of contact for high net worth retail and institutional clients, providing assistance with account management and execution of orders. Nick understands the value of accommodating clients and how a high level of client service equates to excellent business relationships.
Having completed a Bachelor of Business at University of Technology Sydney in 2011, Nick discovered his passion for the financial markets and in particular domestic and international equities. Nick enjoys speaking and interacting with people and has the ability to interface across a broad range of clientele, service providers and other professionals.
When not at work, Nick can be found skiing, surfing, playing golf and working out. Nick has been fortunate to travel and visit many countries as an Australian representative skier and is particularly fond of Switzerland, Japan and Scandinavia. He is committed to maintaining a balanced lifestyle and has learnt how focus, drive and commitment can translate directly to success in the business world.
